D’Angelo Ponds in full stride — ready to show the league why he’s the Titans’ secret weapon.

Every draft has that one name that makes the league pause — a “wait, who?” moment that turns into a headline months later. For the Tennessee Titans, that name is D’Angelo Ponds, the scrappy corner out of a small program who’s already turning heads before his first official NFL snap.

At just under six feet tall, Ponds doesn’t check the typical prototype boxes for a shutdown corner — but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in attitude, instincts, and pure heart. Around the Titans facility, he’s already earned a nickname: “The Problem.”

“You’ll see him all over the field,” Coach DOC told reporters after a spirited preseason finale. “We drafted him for a reason — and the league’s just gonna have to see what I’m saying.”

The Titans plan to unleash Ponds in the star role, a versatile defensive position built for chaos — slot coverage, nickel blitzes, run support, whatever it takes to disrupt. It’s a big ask for a rookie, but that’s exactly why DOC and the staff believe in him.

“Ponds has that chip on his shoulder,” said a teammate who asked not to be named. “He plays every down like someone told him he shouldn’t even be here. That kind of energy changes defenses.”

As Tennessee gears up for their Week 1 clash with the Kansas City Chiefs, all eyes will be on No. 27. The league’s high-flying offenses might overlook him for now — but they won’t for long.
